The Gallery in the Tower was founded in 1965 as an exhibition space of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR (VBKD) and has been located for over 50 years on the ground floor of the North Tower designed by Hermann Henselmann at Frankfurter Tor. Since 1990, it has served as a municipal gallery of the district.
