The Gallery in the Tower was established in 1965 as an exhibition space of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR (VBKD) and has been located on the ground floor of the North Tower designed by Hermann Henselmann at Frankfurter Tor for over 50 years. Since 1990, it has served as the municipal gallery of the district.
