The Diaconal Work of Berlin-Brandenburg-Schlesische Oberlausitz is an association of independent welfare services. As an umbrella organization, it represents approximately 380 sponsors with 1,900 social, educational, and healthcare services in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Eastern Saxony. Together with about 52,000 employees, the Diaconal Work is committed to participation and diversity and advocates for disadvantaged and marginalized people at the state and local political levels in the spirit of love for one's neighbor.

Until the Berlin House of Representatives and district elections in 2026, the Diakonie brings seemingly unsolvable societal challenges to the stage with the new socio-political event series "Future Berlin | The Citizens' Talk" monthly – in dialogue with engaged Berlin citizens, political decision-makers, and experts from the social infrastructure. The events take place in all Berlin districts and address locally relevant topics – including urban poverty, care, youth, and housing.
